Heaven and Earth

In this painting I have tried to depict a woman's innocence as she sits upon the faery mound and prays to the heavens. Is it a magical spot where the ancients meet? I will leave that up to your imagination!

The difference between those careless masques of heathen gods, or unbelieved, though mightily conceived visions of fairy, witch, or risen spirit, and the earnest faith of Dante's vision of Paradise, is the true measure of the difference in influence between the willowy banks of Avon, and the purple hills of Arno.

John Ruskin (1819-1900) speaking on Shakespeare.

SEA MAID

"My gentle Puck, come hither. Thou rememb'rest
Since once I sat upon a promontory
And heard a mermaid on a dolphin's back
Uttering such dulcet and harmonious breath
That the rude sea grew civil at her song
And certain stars shot madly from their spheres
To hear the sea-maid's music?"

Shakespeare

It's Christmas Eve and all through the house.......

Not a creature was stirring......not even a mouse......er....elf?

People are scurrying about....putting finishing touches on every last detail....cooking and cleaning and adding that last bit of ribbon before the big guy makes his "once a year" appearance. Have you been good this year? Or will it be a lump of coal?

I will rejoice in the miracles that have occured in my life and I look forward to an awesome 2006!

Merry Christmas One and All!!

If you see a fairy ring
In a field of grass,
Very lightly step around,
Tiptoe as you pass;
Last night fairies frolicked there,
And they're sleeping somewhere near.

If you see a tiny fae
Lying fast asleep,
Shut your eyes and run away,
Do not stay or peep;
And be sure you never tell,
Or you'll break a fairy spell.

~ William Shakespeare ~
